In 2003, our TVs flickered with episodes of "Friends," we were charmed by "Finding Nemo," and Facebook was only a glimmer in Harvard freshmen Mark Zuckerberg's eye. I was also writing my last picture book, DEAR MR. WASHINGTON, about how Gilbert Stuart's children got the president to smile for his portrait on the dollar bill. The book, Illustrated by Nancy Carpenter, comes out this Thursday. Phew!
